You’re getting cheated. It’s just that simple. There are thousands of books, courses, articles, “experts”, and systems floating around, each and every one claiming to be the holy grail for you and your business. I am honestly surprised that I haven’t seen this ad yet:
“Take my course, and I’ll wave a magic wand that funnels money into your account without you having to lift a finger. You can work for 4 hours per week, make $20 million per year, and what the hell, you’ll lose weight, too…”
Hucksters are stepping over each other to scream at you that they’re the ones with the real secrets. They’re the ones who can, for a hefty fee, teach you the one thing that will turn your business into a self running gold mine.
And when those secrets turn out to be anything but, when the gold mine turns out to be of the fools’ variety, there’s another huckster willing to show you why that last system didn’t work… again, for a hefty fee.
So just what are these “secrets” that are going to revolutionize your business? More often than not, they’re hard sell techniques that would make a stereotypical 1970’s used car salesman blush. They’re pushy, they’re aggressive, and they’re aimed at maximizing your short term revenue stream. Short term, because you can only get away with that kind of crap once or twice, before you destroy any semblance of a relationship you have with your clients.
I am emphatically unhappy with the vast majority of the resources I’ve seen available for business owners to make genuine improvements to their operations. I am not happy with the lack of attention I see in these “resources” to the absolute most important thing, which is doing what is best for your clients. And I am definitely not happy with the amount of attention that’s given to how to bring in new clients, when most businesses don’t have the systems in place to keep them.
So instead of bitching about the lack of decent and usable material available, I’m going to do something about it, and give it away here. This site is a work in progress designed to share with you strategies, tactics, and fundamental understandings that will help your business immediately, and for the long run.
In the coming days, weeks, months and years, we’re going to cover the gamut when it comes to your business. Here are some of the topics to be covered in the very near future:
- Why focusing on generating leads and new business is almost always a mistake (unless you’re in the very earliest phases of your business)
- Why new clients are looking for reasons to love you and to hate you at the same time, and why they’ll walk away for almost no reason
- How to identify the biggest reasons that clients leave, and make the changes required to keep them
- How to create a “crystal ball” that can predict when clients are going to leave (based on my research into 300,000 client interactions)
- Why most business owners really, really misunderstand marketing, and what I hope is a compelling argument that it’s not a series of tricks/tactics designed to get more money as quickly as possible, but rather an ongoing and almost omnipresent activity that can literally make or break your business (not to fear, though, it’s not difficult – it’s just so often overlooked and overcomplicated that businesses leave a LOT of money on the table by overlooking it)
- What you can do immediately to bring back past clients
